ON BOARD

I love travelling by sea. I actually love the sea in general - the smell of it, its colours, all the ships, the harbours. (I even like the seagulls, even though most people don't.)

We travelled to Sweden by boat, we always do. It's a quite comfy way to travel. It's also a more ecological way to travel than by plane. We had some wine and lobster and a lot of sun on the deck. And me and my sister of course know all of the handsome seamen onboard and spent some time with them too!

that's a really good picture! There's a little 70s-80s spoap-opera-glamour over it (I'm probably thinking of Love Boat, heh), but in a GOOD way! Don't get me wrong =).

I believe it is LESS ecological to travel by boat. But definitely comfier.

Beka : oh thanks

Wendy : and I was in quite a cheerful mood when the pic was taken too :)

Nadine: thank you

Ina : yup, that's kind of what I was after too.

Annis : no, it really is a lot more ecological to travel by boat than by plane.

Sure all the traffic on the Baltic Sea is harmful in general, because the sea in the archipelago is shallow and the bottom gets messed up. But if you compare the capacity of a ship and the amount of fuel it uses to a plane the ship leaves less emission. Scandinavian passenger ships also do not let any of it's greywater out in the ocean but pumps it all to the harbour. Someone very close to me has worked with marine environmental matters a lot so I've payed some attention to these things.

But I guess the only way to really travel all-green would be by foot (and that's not comfy at all :)

Your blog seems nice! Just found my way here.. Great style too, and photos! :) What you said about the sea, I couldn't agree more! The smell of the sea - one of the greatest things in summertime. :) And seagulls, their voices are definitely an important part of my summer feeling too.

Thank you for the info. It's so hard to make decisions these days, one expert says one thing and another disagrees.
