ARCHIPELAGO WEDDING / EARLY SIXTIES INSPIRED UPDO

I have to break that image of me as a cabbage head and save myself for future references in the internet. All the following images should be named ulrikabacherulrikabacherulrikabacher.jpg to be sure they are the ones to hit the search engine first.

Well anyway Eddi and I went to a wedding last weekend (yes there's been a lot of weddings this year, my friend asked if we've done anything else this summer) in the far-away archipelago. I had a pretty dress and a nasty flu with me and did this 'do inspired by the early sixties. Mad Men if you so like (I have to start watching that show!).

The hair do takes under ten minutes to make with pre-culred hair and the help of some Bumpits'. The pearl bow hair comb is from Frollein von Sofa.

I think had the nicest outfit I've worn this year so far, but as you really can't have your picture taken all the time I don't have any proper shots of that. The dress is trashy Diva however.

I don't smoke anymore btw. Only sometimes. Like when I have the flu because it helps, eh.

Oh my ... that's definitely the best picture I could get of someone modelling my pearl bow. On that hairstyle - it's perfection. Thanks a lot ! And btw....I hope the ciggi on the picture is that healthy one we (non-smokers)smoked when we met in Berlin...and yes : You should start watching Mad Men ! It's brilliant.

Frollein von Sofa : thank you :) And yes, it's the 'ecological' ones - from the same carton (not box though), so I really don't smoke that much :)

Mademoiselle Balai : thank you. I wore the purple Parikka's with the red and black bows (to match my purse and handbag). It was a hard choice between those, the red or the lilac ones but the Parikka's have straps which were good for dancing :)

Lovely!, But of course you KNOW that in 50 years time the only picture of you on the internet will be the one with a cabbage on you head. QED

You look gorgeous. I am currently in a madmen binge so this is looking like a pretty perfect hairstyle to me right now.
I would love to know how you did this in 10 mins!

Bumpits are my life!

Clare . Less than ten. Fasten the bumpit (I use the middles sized one) on the top back of the head and then put the two smaller bumpits on the side of the head, pinning all in place in the back. Then I do 4-5 rolls of the rest of the (not a must, but preferably pre-culred, I had it pin-curled over night) hair hanging loose in the back. I just roll them upwards and fasten them with one bobby pin inside the roll from each side. I curled my hair in front and pinned it against my head. If you don't have bumpits (they are very affordable so it's a good investment though) you can use a rat or some tulle fabric to fill out the miniature-beehive. Or just back comb it.

You´re looking extra beautiful and elegant in this, love the photos!
I´ve searched the Helsinki shops for bumpits, but couln´t find any. Where did you get/order your´s? I could really do with less teasing for my hair. Also, while I´m here, do you happen to have any idea on where to get my hands on some eyebrow stencils locally and online? And like they said, Mad Men...swooon, do it.

Thank you all.

Vanessa : yes, it's a nice and easy style I've done a few times this summer, works well for the days nothing else does. So maybe I will!

Jaana-Mari : Thank you. I ordered mine online from ebay and I paid in pounds - they don't have any around here to purchase I think. The price should be around ten euros. Anyway it's a good choice, so easy to use! I'm afraid to say I don't really have any good advice about eyebrow stencils as I've never tried any out. But I'm sure you'll find some good advice and sites trough our friend google... what about those kauneustukku-sites, maybe you'll even find some in Finnish shops? But I think that with a steady hand and a good pencil you can get pretty good results yourself.

Thanks! I guess it´s time for internet-shopping, then. I´m curious to try out the stencils, as I seem to be wearing my brows the same way all the time. It would be fun to try different shapes+products, but still get symmetrical results ;)

If someone is interested, I found myself some eyebrow stencils at Kuokkasen Peruukkiliike, made by Kryolan (3 for 13,50e). They worked like a charm!
