It is an extremely aesthetically satisfying film with the most delicious details, it is visually perfect with perfectly planned scenes. And also with great acting. I just love the changes of hues and saturation with the small hints and perceptions of life and hope in the his (main character's) otherwise so numb state.
And this scene is shot just like a memory is:

Even my boyfriend cried in the cinema. It's inspiring and profound- I love it!
I luv luv love this film, the way they filmed it, the colors just everything, amazing!
You depicted the film really well. Satisfying is just the right word to describe it. I was greatly impressed by it, but for some reasin haven't watched it again.
Colin Firth is a genius actor. I was so touched by the character he played. And the house he lived in.....like a dream.
"A Single Man" is the most beautiful film. Tom Ford is a genius. It's so inspiring, especially as a costuem designer. I've based quite a number of characters off George, even if the show wasn't set in the 60s. Just beautiful.

A Single Man is the most beautiful film like ever! The story is heartbreakingly beautiful, every shot is like a piece of art, the music is lovely, the actors are the most stylish ones, like EVER :D and the 2 dogs are so cute. Its my favorite film for sure. Or one out of 5 at least.
..and The HOUSE!!! its a dream..
It was beautiful movie but also so sad.
I very much thought it was a style over substance film but the style truly was sublime.
The scene where he receives the news about his partner is one of the best-acted scenes I've ever seen. You really feel his emotions and see them all cross his face within the space of a minute. Brilliantly acted. I always wondered what happened to the other dog...
Good morning ladies,
the great house was designed by John Lautner in 1949. Later on he became famous for his "Chemosphere" which is also located in L.A. And we all know the scenes from "Diamonds are forever" shot in Elrod House in Palm Springs.
Best wishes,
Julia

Provocative films which focuses more on taboo subjects are the best !
