THE SECOND CHALLENGE

Wohoo, an outfit.
The skirt is from Lindex, it's the stretchy one that I wore a lot during my early and mid pregnancy. The top is Tara Starlet and the belt (which is a bit hard to see as it has sunk in between the squish) is Vivien of Holloway.

Anyway. I'm going to tell you two things - many commented on the fact that I "still had the strenght to make an effort and dress up" while I was pregnant. Or now with the baby. And what I'm going to tell you first is this: it takes the same effort to put on a plastic bag, something nice or a pair of leisure pants. In which most of the cases I'd go for the "something nice". As you may remember, I often point out that nice can also be comfy! Most of my clothing is rather comfy actually. (The pieces that are not, are the ones I wear more seldom, you know, special occasions. And yes, it is of course also a matter of what you are used to and prefer.)Also, if you're not sure weather you are feeling that nice yourself it's certainly not going to make you feel worse by wearing something pretty rather than just whatever.

I actually enjoyed getting dressed during those nine months since it became something of a challenge to come up with what to wear; my body was changing and growing all the time which kept the challenge going. I wasn't sure in the beginning how it would be later on, but it was rather fun all the way until the end.

Now it's yet another challenge to find items to wear. Items to fit in as well as items that will work while breast feeding. And I have to say, it's a bit less nice of a challenge, as this time my body is not changing in the same sense that I'm expecting something big to happen - I'm just waiting for things to get "back to normal". Neiher is it any fun now to buy new items as I'm just hoping to start wearing my "real" clothing again. However, the second thing I was going to tell you is that even though I may sound a bit cracked up about this, I'm not! It's merely three weeks since I gave birth and I've only been up from bed for about five days, so I'm not really taking any stress about anything bodywize. (Yet, hehe. )
It just comes up when talking about clothing, that's all.
Toodely-doo!

So glad to see you up and about again - you look lovely, and Dag is just gorgeous. I'm with you about making an effort to dress nicely, and if it makes you feel fabulous, who cares what everyone else thinks! The nurse who told me I'd never wear heels again when I broke my leg made me determined to do so - wear them nearly every day now.

You still look lovely, and you're right about not stressing over it. :)

Gorgeous and wise. You know, you are such a wonderful role model, I'm not sure if you are aware of that. Thanks for setting an amazing example.

I have suffered from terrible depression in the past and I always find that one thing that makes me feel better is taking care of myself and dressing up nicely. Even when I don't have the physical emotional energy, I just put on a dress and a bit of lippy and it seems to improve my outlook.

I have to admit I was really impressed how you managed to find clothes that was your style whilst pregnant. You certainly are a proof you can still stay "you" even when pregnant and especially when the little one is born. I think lot of (us) mummies do forget ourselves and that is not good. It is so important to remember who "I" am. The little ones soon will have their own strong personalities and grow up and being "just" mummy will leave rather empty sense of self eventually (just to clarify that I'm a mummy and have gone through all this).

I'm still breastfeeding seven months in and haven't found that many good tops of outfits to do so in. And an ugly top has a way of ruining the whole look!
I am looking forward to see what you come up with. Looking fabulous, as always by the way!

I still think it's 'great that you dress up' since I get hot flashes everytime I get myself dressed up nice.. So hot that I have to take it all of and just grab some sort of t-shirt dress in which I can sweat a lot... So: you look great! Well done! ;)

The thing with it takes just as much effort to put on a plastic bag as to put on something nice - so true!
Same thing goes for when people say, "oh, I don't have time to eat anything healthy so I'll have to eat a burger or a choclate bar (every day)". How on earth is that faster than grabbing a rye bread with avocado or an apple?
Sometimes you of course WANT to wear a plastic bag or eat a burger, 'cause you FEEL like doing it, but that's not my point... :D

You do look great here. You've coordinated the pieces wonderfully-the outfit seriously looks like a dress. I agree with you that it can be quite fun and interesting to be looking for new ways/things to dress yourself in. I'm just especially impressed with your efforts with your hair- immaculate, cool and stylish as ever!

Take it easy.

Dear Ulrika, I'm going to tell you about my own pregnancies. After giving birth to my first child I was so disappointed that there were so many kilos left on my body. It took 9 months breast-feeding but then I had the same weight as before the pregnancy. And it was the same after the birth of my second child. And I've never made any kind of diet in that time. So it's right that you don't worry about your body. And go on dressing so pretty. We'd like to see more outfits every day. Hugs from Miss Maple

You look absolutely amazing. Most of all I love that you look good in all sizes and shapes and that you can't see weight on your face. When I gain weight the face is the first thing that shows all kilos :)

P.S looking forward for your stylish breestfeeding outfits :)

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and trying to make sure I dress nice too. So I have to say congrats on achieving your look all the way through your pregnancy.
The only thing I've had to change so far is that I've had to wear ballet slippers - which I absolutely hate - but my feet are too swollen. I'm plus sized so really the only change I've had is my belly has grown so can't wear tight at the waist.

Man behöver INTE köpa BOOB toppar!!!

Sorry, do not know what happened to the other message!.
Tell yourself you're beautiful and you also right about the same job that costs be something pretty ugly. I went with my son on his back until he was three years, do not use cart, sleep together and the truth is that it's pretty hard to get.

I advise you to button-front dresses and tank tops super large size, where you can take one breast by one of the holes, sleeping and being at home are great, because the stomach is kept warm.

What the nursing bras is another story, very beautiful and sexy but they are worth much money. The breasts are changing size and you have to buy bras every 6 months.

High heels bother me much, but the looks are much nicer to them.

Still as beautiful. Now you'll get beautiful for your child and you will get surprised when choosing eye shadow colors you'd never used. Moms we turn our looks sweeter with time.

When my daughter was born I didn't even manage to brush my teeth for the first three days.

You look incredible for a new mother :-)

As a mother for a one boy, I sure know what you mean with life after giving a birth! I went up 18-22 kg depending how you wanna see to the fact, but for my 163 cm´s it was a huge amount of extra that I did not need. But I was not stressed, only worried how to find something nice to wear without having to spend too many euros for something that would not fit me later. Just like you wrote.

I remember someone saying pretty well that "if it takes you 9 months to put on the weight, you cannot expect it to disappear in three days". Well said, I think!

Anyway, you look great - wish I had your sense of style or at least effort everyday! :)

First of all you look lovely! But, I personally think the way we dress is a matter of personality. High heels shoes look pretty, but NO one can claim that they are comfy! I would never ever in my life put on make up in the country side, or going to the local shop buying milk. Or going to work, I rather sleep 15 minutes later instead! I just would not bother to make the effort. Its much faster to just take a pair of jeans and a pair of ballerinas, than dress up in a skirt and heels. Skirts make me feel really self aware and too feminine, not my style at all. I think comfy is the same as easy. But this is your style and you look great, but its not for everyone! I am too lazy, and I like more to look how I feel, than how I look. And I think its great that people find out what's their style really.

Katja : I also get these sweat-attacks every now and then. I keep a fan or brochure in my bag to cool me with :)

Aurea _ I ordered a pair of really good and super comfy nursing bras from Bravado. they look rahter neutral, not so fancy perhaps but I like it.

Anonymous : But I do claim they are comfy! My mid heels with a bit of a sole are the comfiest shoes I have; those were the ones I wore when heavily pregnant. Flats were too flat and I felt too heavy in them. And yes, dressing a matter of personality or perhaps rather what one is used to. But it still does not change the fact that the effort is just as big to grab a pair of jeans as it is to pull on a dress! But funny how manners are and style is, I never feel comfortable in jeans :)

Good idea! Sad thing is I do have à fan right here next to me - but more as an 'object', hehe didn't think of actually use it. Will do now ;)
