ALL THOSE SHOES JUST WAITING TO BE WORN

Alright, everybody gather 'round the table, it's first world club meeting time!

No but really. Remember this thing with 'it's alright to buy new shoes if they are in a colour I don't already own'-thing? That should apply to all shoes except for black and red ones? And winter boots? And possibly something else, if it gets really tight? (Haha). Well some time ago I stumbled upon a pair of very very nice orange heels in a very delicious shade. And for a while it felt like it just had to be done, the button just had to be clicked, orange shoes will solve all problems, ever. The clothing related ones at least. Not so sure about the rest, the economy, world peace  and so on, really. But in the end I actually was able to resist the temptation and now a few days later wonderful pretty perfect orange shoes does not seem that special anymore.

Shoes are really the tricky part, over here at least. Weather wize. I am trying to organize and clean up in the bed room and it is like the shoes in the drawers and on the rack in my closet are all going "Me! Me! Remember me! Wear me!" I am much of  a periodical wearer as in I tend to wear some things a lot for some time and forget about the rest. Combine that with the weather conditions over here a lot of my shoes will have to continue their silent shouting. Funny how one (often, over here, me at least) gets oneself The Winer coat and The Winter Boots; one pair and one pair only, when winter here is almost half of the year. And then those few months of maybe warm, perhaps sunshine, has more than plenty to go with.

These are quite comfy actually but they are so open they are pretty much sandals which is a kind of bye bye after mid Semptember already. Or earlier...

I have always worked a lot with quite little time to strut around in all those nice things that I have and now that I work less I rehears more and push the pram and lots of bags and babies (alright yes, only one baby) around which means still quite little time for most of those pretty shoes. Sniff. And now it's snowing already. Perhaps next spring I can go all latte-mamma and hang around cafées with Dag in my lap and my lovely heels on my feet, a different pair a day. Or then I just have to go to more parties at night. Hah!

My first Parikkas... I used these a lot a few years back while living in the city centre. Nowadays they feel a little posh for that walk to the supermarket, even for me. More parties it is!

And these! Semi-comfy and waterproof! I had forgot about these. They will come around. Soon. Or once the snow goes away.

Obviously, if I would live in a warmer climate somewhere else this would be less of an issues. But then again I'd propably would not have the option of free healthcare and free univeristy studies, and possible huge shitty spiders in the cornerns and earth quakes and so on. So I can bear with it.

Who would ever have thought pale pink shoes would be so hard to wear in the end. Sigh.

And, furthermore, I have to add that the actual issues is just that I have too many shoes.
But do you know which colour the shoes are that I wear all the time? Mostly because those are the heels that are comdy enough to take allt the prams babies and bags, but also because they go with so much. Off white, brown and mint green. Which sort of makes it seem like to orange ones could have a chance? You know, according to some kind of logic. Hmmm...

Do you have more shoes than you can handle?

Those stockings (hose/tights/whatever) are great!

I love shoes. Sometimes I see a color that I don't have and think that I need them, but more times it is if they are in a style I don't have (but love) that I need them.

Alas, my wallet does not let me run free with my shoe desires. So what I end up doing is pinning everything that I love on pinterest http://pinterest.com/VintageAttempt/shoes/ ) and I go back and look back at them later and still see if they are as fabulous as I once though (if not I weed them out - which happens a lot and always suprises me!). If they are I decide which one pair I can afford at that time (if any) and get them. The rest sit and wait till my next oppurtunity.

Nooo, I cannot think of any "more shoes than you can handle" situation. There is always romm for one more pair ;)

Great post - especially from mummy point of view. I have way too many pairs of shoes (and clothes) as I always find myself wearing my comfy outfit. I used to wear heels quite a lot then the baby came along. I have started to wear heels again but my feet just don't tolerate them like they used to. I'm afraid to say that now is the time to sit in the cafe with lil one on your lap. Come next spring you will be running after him (babies crawl so fast!). Children they don't only ruin our bodies but also our shoe choices :) (not really but almost)

I used to use the "if I don't have that colour yet" rule... Now, it has truly gotten out of hand. I have more than 120 pairs! But I do make an effort to try and wear all of them. In fact, me and a whole bunch of other people are doing a shoe challenge, where we have to wear all our shoes in one year, or we have to get rid of them. Shoes need to be worn, or passed on to someone who will love them more. :)

Oh my, those red velvet ones are divine! I have a box full of shoes in my wardrobe, but wear my Doc Martens almost every day. There have been maybe a dozen days this year when I wore something else, in most cases flat ballet pumps on the few hot days we had in summer. I have real issues buying shoes though. There's half a size difference between my feet so I have to have straps or a high front or my smaller foot just slips right out. I also don't do high or skinny heels well. All this means I end up buying and hoarding shoes when I do find a good pair, even though they might only get worn one day a year! Those red velvet ones would definitely be worn to just sit around the house in though. I would sit and stroke them all day.

And yes, wear them now before you have to run around after an active toddler all day. Pushing a pram in heels is easy compared to that, trust me!

the entire post i kept hoping you are having a shoe sale and each new pair i wanted more than the last. by the end i was hyperventilating, only to find out you are keeping all of them, haha :D the red melissas and the pink parikkas are beyond perfect<3
i have a shoe problem too. i keep buying heels but end up wearing the same two pairs of flats (one pair of heels when i go out, maybe) because they are more practical. still, i recently bought 6 pairs of shoes in one month. six!!! and now they all look at me from the floor. ah, silly women...

Thanks for this access to your shoes dressing!;) Cause I didn't know about Minna Parikka and I must say that it's a shame!
As for the "too many shoes" problem it's sometimes an issue when you live in Paris (real estate is so expensive that everybody lives in a tiny place!;)...

I really haven't enough shoes! I can't seem to find heels that match my ideas - you know the heel need to have just the right curve and not too high, the front need to be round and the details oh the details... I've been looking for a pair of ankle strap heels for ever and still no cigar... but yours are perfect;)

What a gorgeous shoe collection! I find myself debating between buying more comfortable (practical) shoes, or the shoes that I LOVE...it is so hard to find an in between shoe!

I feel your winter shoe pain. I live in Canada, and although I did buy myself a second pair of winter boos last winter, I still definitely have far more spring and summer shoes. Love your red velvet heels!

Fabulous shoes - I mean heels. And you're so right. I own a rather large amount of heels and I've arranged them in my shoe cabinet according to their colour. It's a rather beautiful sight. But often I choose the flat ones because I have to go a long way or my back is aching or something else and there aren't enough parties where you can wear them. So I'm glad that most of them weren't so expensive. I can often buy them at fleamarkets looking almost new. I think the former owners had the same problems as you and me. They bought them because they were sooo beautiful and afterwards there are always reasons to wear them not.

Guilty...But even though I have too many to store I'm still in need, right now I think I really ought to own a pair of saddle shoes. Maybe then i could get rid of some old, less wearable pairs? How do you store your shoes btw?

Love, love, love the red heels! Where did you get them from?

Red velvet Mary Janes-how delicious are they? Take some advice from an older woman-just wear them, whenever you can,in whatever circumstances present themselves or don't, but please just wear them and enjoy them for the truly beautiful shoes they are and let other people see them too! They will brighten the dullest of days and will get you noticed!

Great post. I live in a tropical place (so i deal with the big spiders!) and i also have the problem of not enough opportunity to wear high heels. Over here everybody wears thongs (or bare feet!) all the time so i do feel a bit too posh to wear heels to the supermarket, i go for retro sandals instead.
A lady who worked at an op shop said most of the shoes they get donated are sexy high heels- those ones that you buy on the spur of the moment cause they're so beautiful but they end up being never being worn.
