THE CHERRY ON TOP

I have a problem with shoes in the winter; I'd prefer to wear open heels all year round. This year I have been blonde enough to go for pretty over practical; skipping the boots, wearing heels in soggy snow and on frozen streets - and having a cold for the third week in a row now. Stupid, sure, but I just haven't found any suitable winter shoes that are pretty enough and I somehow have a problem with wearing boots (my mom's old boots that I like are starting to fall apart). I've never really been a fan of those ancle-high boots either but then I stumbled upon a pair in the supermarket on sale for the price of some catfood-juice-and eggs so I figured it'd be worth a try.

But I pimped them a little bit first!

They have this loop in the back with no actual funcion, except for one - to work as a bow holder!

I tied bows of silkribbon and sewed them on to a small safetypin, fastened it in the loop and sprayed the whole thing with protecting spray.

Voilà - bowed bootlets, a bit over the top, just the way I like it!

(And no, they are still not the best thing to wear in soggy snow but it still better than nothing :)

those are really pretty. but, why don't you get a pair of those minna parikka by mantere - boots? they look like they can stand quite a bit of finnish winter weather and they look fantastically pretty!

Dotti : Thank you dear :)

Démo : yes you do that!

Fröken Lila : Oh I know, they are lovely and surely practiacl too! I did try them in the late autumn but I'm rather broke for the moment and the MP by Mantere are, even though less costy than regular MP's, still somethign like 200 euros, sigh...

I'm not good with the wintershoes either... But I've given up, with frost-bitten toes and now I wear the some ugly but warm shoes while walking to the office and change the shoes when I'm at work.

i know. they are fantastic, and as a student i can still only dream. but they are way on top of my want-to-have-list. the thing is, there seems to be only one online shop selling them, and they are even more expensive for people outside finland, plus they never seem to have a sale =( but a girl can always dream..

I hate winter shoes too, nice job with the boots though - adding bows to anything is always a good idea in my book!

These are one of my winter shoes. While it does have a heel, and a good height to it, it also is comfortable and I can wear it with pants or skirts.

But I wear sandals in the winter too, so what do I know? :D

Du är utan tvekan min stilguru i höst, ska snygga till mina nästan identiska skinnstövlar med tvåfärgade band, de må vara svåra att gå i, men då kan de åtminstonde vara snygga.
Tack för din fantastiska inspiration!
