THE SUNDAY DRESS

I've been winterizing more of my summer dresses.

It's funny btw how a dress you were never really that interested in but bought as it happened to be on sale (that's the right consuming spirit, buy even if you don't care!) turns out to become your absolute favorite one. The cut is the Doris dress from Trashy Diva and it's just perfect, although it looks less interesting on the site.
(Well you can't see that much of it actually since it's "winterized" but anyway.)

The cherry brooch is by Frollein von Sofa.

I layering my strapless summer dresses over bright coloured long sleeved t-shirts to bring them into winter.

I really like your dress, but your cat also really caught my attention as it has the most amazing eyes.

My adorable friend, I love your flowery dress in December. It is even more delicious, like icecream in the summer. I am looking at my dresses with new eyes thanks to you. Love the bunch of cherries, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ( sigh ). You are my inspiration.

This is one of my favorite dresses from Trashy Diva. I LOVE the colors!

That's a very similar story to mine :) I have the Trashy Diva circle skirt day dress in the same print, which I bought because it was going cheap on eBay (US$41) and when it arrived I fell in love with it - the cut is so much more flattering on me than I thought it was going to be.

I wish I'd realised that earlier and bought the same dress in the poppies print when it was available! I'm very envious of your Country Club poppies dress, the colours are so beautiful.

I love seeing Trashy Diva on your blog, I'm so obsessed with their clothes and you wear them well.

So pretty! I use also some of my summer dresses in winter and always hear about it from my mom that "hey that's a summer dress you can't use that!" :')

Love the brooch!
Love, love LOVE the table!!!

I use summerdresses with thick tights during winter, English winters are so depressing and I wouldn't make it without floral patterns. :))

I was looking at that dress last week! How is the sizing? I am in between sizes and am not sure what to get, thanks! Did you see the Trxie dress too? It is even cheaper!

Pennythepinup : I have two trixies already :) My TD dresses are in size 6 and 8, this is 6 and it fits well so go for the smaller of the two then perhaps?

I have the same problem with sizes I'm half an inch too wide around my waist (24.5) and the dress is only 24". but my bust is way too small for a size 4. Do you think it would be easy to make the bust smaller in the dress if I go for the bigger size?

The Freelancer's FashionBlog said...

Maja : hmm, you might not have ti make the bust smaller; the cut is rather puffy around the bust on this one, so I think it won't be noticeable if there's some extra space there... but otherwise I think you could just nip in from the shoulders, which should be easy (you know, shorten them a but to tighten around the bust). My 40's TD dresses are a bit too big at the bust for me, in that case I added one extra hook in the back to keep the shoulders from slipping down.

Since we are talking details on TD dresses....I just love and kick myself for never ordering. Ulrika is the perfect model! Actually was showing my hubby this blog the other day about how pretty Ulrika is and that she gets these dresses delivered from States to Finland.....so now its time for me to get one. Winter be damned!
I've asked in the past I believe, but I'm old and scattered and have since forgotten answers :)....do you or any fellow readers know which of their dresses is longest? I'm about 5'10! Any suggestions? I swear I will order one today.

Maja : the cardigan is from H&M - it's very soft and warm but it got "nippy" really fast :/
