SNAPSHOTS, TUESDAY

Stuff I did today.
Had a watermelon-strawberry-apple-spirulina smoothie and some lentil tapenade sandwhiches for breakfast. I've posted the tapenade recipe here before at some point but here's a quickie: squish together 2 parts cooked green lentils and one part green olives, lots of garlic, an optional chopped onion, a little salt and pepper, oil and a lot of vinegar (or balsamico). Done!

Drove in to town over to our studio for some of hours of rehearsing.

(Of which half of the time of course looked like this :)

Next stop: the post office to pick up some parcels I've recieved. (Autumn is my season for renewal and stocking up but it's not like I've been shopping like crazy here; the ones I picked up today I received as gifts/samples/collaborations.)

Meanwhile back in the countryside.
The cows are back on their spot opposite of our window. They have been eating elsewhere for the past month.

Dag and I were checking them out for a while. Very exciting.

Then I ended my day with some h ours of computeering (work, actually) and a big bowl of whipped semolina berry porridge,  as classic dish over here which is called just that; whipped porridge.

ILMALA

We took a trip  and drove east, to my grandparent's summer stay in Southern Carelia, Ilmala. Last time I was there was five years ago with my sister  when my grandfather was still alive. I've been meaning to go there every summer since but never didn't make it until now. It's one of those places thatwhat's along the road to there might change during the years, but once you get there, it looks the same as it always has, just like it did during our stays there as a kid.

The place is on a typical Finnish ridge with a steep hill down to the lake.

Plus 26C in the water! Approved.

Pretty much everything in the cabin(s, there's another smaller barack on the premises too) is built by my late grandfather by hand; the houses, beds, shelves, tables, hooks and so on. He was also the kind of guy to make lamp shades out of old thermoses and built a jetty from a road sign that said it was 1km to the motel for example. And all details are painted in the same green color, as he had a lot of it and thus put it everywhere. In their town apartment too...

Dinner preparations. Well one of these at least ;)

Freshly baked local sour rye bread. To be had with heaps of butter. Crazy good. Dag thought so too and got a little greedy.

Pine trees, pine trees, pine trees. A lot of Finland looks like this. Easy to get lost in , everywhere looks the same.

The salpa line  from the war went trough here. (In Finland The War refers to the Finnish Winter War and the continuation war, wwII.)

I snatched the second pic from my sister's Instagram.

Blueberries and blueberry pie. Ah, summer!
(Lately blueberries however makes me think of the phrase "beautiful blueberries", which was the last thing Christopher McCandelss wrote in his journal before he starved to death in Alaska, having tried to live separated from the modern world. One of the things I've stumbled upon during my insomniac  nightly internet odysseys... Such a lonely, deliric thing to write. My head makes me picture the scene of the skeleton man praising his last berries. Thank you internet for that one, I will most likely ALWAYS think of that whenever thinking of blueberries again. )

Well, back to here and summer and sand and such. Here's my sister's & hubby's little chorkie Lilly in the evening sun.

JULY 31st

Because I'm in vacation mode I will let Instagram do this post for me.

Today we went on a day trip to visit my parents at their summer stay in the archipelago home.

A little by-the-way but here's where my iPhone wemt bathing earlier summer.

Yet another angle of my grandparent's house.

Walking to the garden.

The small guest house shed in the garden is pretty much ready now and mainluy occupied by my sister and her fiancé. (Funn,y I posted about it being built one year ago exactly...)

And here's a little Eddi & Dag parade:

Eddi and Dag eating berries.

Eddi and Dag about to go home.

 Eddi and Dag leaving.

And here's a majestic harbor view to end the day.
Good night!

PARK LUNCH IN THE CITY

Wednesday as my instagram saw it.

Today I rolled my hair in small victory rolls and head out to town in the summer heat with Dag.

We met up my sisters in a park for an extempore late lunch. Dag decided not only his but everyone's food was at its best with the box flipped over, on the grass...

Good thing my youngest sister's new puppy molly was there to help finnish it off.

Her boyfriend snapped a polaroid of Dag and his aunts.
It doesn't get more 2013 than this does it; taking a smartphone photo of an old school polaroid  and sharing it with retrofilters on on instagram...

Little mister I-am-covered-in-my-lunch got a new hat and then fell asleep.

And I got myself something too but we'll check back on that later...

A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF

What I did during the last seven days. No day is like the previous one to me .Which does not mean that my life is one big adventure or party, having no routine can also be rather exhausting. And every week is busy-week over here.

But anyway, here we go; this was my past week (mostly via instagram, haven't readlly had the chance to carry the camera around - my hands are full of other stuff, like babies for example, you know.)

Friday. last week's.
Drove some 300 kilometers up to Jyväskylä where we had a show with Sweet Jeena & Her Sweethearts as well as The Shrieks. Here we are posing all naturally backstage with our local sailor pick up girl.

Saturday.
Drove back and stopped at this very Kaurismäki-esque old gas station and bar. Which sadly was closed for the day.

Did a quick stop home and put the face on again and went for a show we did at a library. It was thunder and the lights went dark, but the music kept on playing!

Sunday.
Hanged with these two out on the farm. Did some graphic work while dag napped.

Monday.
Stayed at home and did lots of tidying up and cleaning! Woooh!

Tuesday.

Filmed a thing that will air in autumn and forgot to take any social media evidence of that...
Later I had a meeting after which we rehearsed something that included a helluvalotta gogo boots.

Wednesday.

Eddi had a day off and we were at the farm. Dag was all excited about the neigbor's cows walking pass the window and I picked some nettles.

Thursday.
Did a show at Radisson Plaza with these funny ladies.

Friday, this one.

Took a walk with Dag to Tapiola, our hoods while int the city, and bumped into this fella.

In the evening I had a burlesque workshop, as a student for a change; there's some outsiders in town giving us what they've got!  Here's a bunch of legs from that event

After which I drove out to the farm  with a  pastel May evening sky in front of me.
