THE CHECKED SUMMER DRESS

I finally got around to make myself that new dress I've been thinking about! All in all, it took me about five to six hours once I got started.
It will be good for nursing as it can be buttoned up- or down, depends on how you take it.

But for now it is still serving as a maternity dress.

And I know somebody will ask; the answer is NO, I did not use a pattern. I have never used patterns so it might be that I don't even know how to :) I looked at some of my shirts and dresses and draw upon the fabric according to those. But we can look into the details some other time.

So pretty. And I'm impressed you didn't use a pattern, you must have a very mechanical mind!

It sounds incredible - to sew without any patterns just to draw from hand. You're genius :)
And the dress is really pretty x

What?? Gjorde du den klänningen utan mönster?! Otroligt!

Well hello there everybody, everytime I post about clothig Iäve made somebody asks about the pattern and as said before the thing is I have never used a pattern. Don't uou have to do all sorts of counting and stuff? But I draw my own kind of "patterns" first; draw the pieces of the item on a piece of paper when I plan how top sew and cut. And then I use a chalk to draw on the fabric. But I look at other pieces I have to see how they are done. For this one I studied some collars on shirts and dresses of mine to see how to do it best. But some things came along as I was sewing, like the sleeves.

Katja : I know, I haven't made a collar properly before! But it wasn't so hard. I just studied another shirt and another dress closely and made a mixup of those.
