OUT AND ABOUT

Well hello, here I am; on my way to do a burlesque workshop at a bachelorette party, then go to our burlesque rehearsal and hopefully out to have dinner with an old friend afterwards.

Now you may wonder: how is that possible? To go out like that. It is minus 15C and the streets are made of ice.
Well, here's how:
You remember the anatomy of dressing when really really cold?
It's not as cold now, but close, so this is one version of it:
First, I am actually wearing two pairs of stockings; thick white cotton ones and a pair of regular, semi thin nude ones on that. As I will be indoors later on I bring my shoes along and wear my winter boots outside; one'd be crazy to go out in shoes like this with half a meter of snow on the ground. I wear a pair of black wool leg warmers or knee high socks for outside too. Then a long sleeved bolero and a thick and long -also old and a bit ugly, but warm- cardigan on top. (Don't worry, nobody gets to see the cardigan, it goes off with the jacket.) With that, my jacket, a scarf, something on the head and hands (quite a lot already, I know, but that's life over here) I'll be just fine.
Ta-ta!

(The pinafore skirt is Vivien of Holloway, T-shirt one of Eddie's, mini beret by Molla Mills, vanity case bag via ebay and shoes from Very.)

I remember that post! I also wonder why you don;t post your illustrations any more? they were quite nice :)

Carys : yes I did think a bit in French so to say :)

Bespoke Rose : thank you, it is actually yester-yesterday's curls, on the verge of being too dirty, brushed out a lot!

Auxpaysdesmerveilles: So do it! Just add some sneaky extra bits to your normal wear :)

Johanna : mix of self-critisism and lack of time I'm afraid! I have some ideas but never get them done...

I've often wondered how you can keep wearing these amazing outifts and keep warm-thanks for the tips! You look fabulous! ^^ xx

This is just what I needed! I love looking cute, but walking around campus all winter usually leaves me in jeans and sweatshirts. I'm sure it's much colder where you are. (It's slightly below freezing here.)

I live in Los Angeles, and I just could not live like that... All of those layers everyday for most of the year.... Heck, I've never seen snow!!

I admire people who live in places where they have real winters and also think they are insane! (Not actually insane but odd).

You look great though!!

I usually get the same question by my readers: how I manage wearing elegant when it is so cold.
Basically I follow the same rules as you and, well, it works ;)

I really love that look on you! And the more often I see it, the more I like the darker hair on you. Do you have a wavy hair structure like that or do you really do pin curls every night?
Love, Jojo

Matt : of course, feel free to comment whenever you like :)

Jojography : I'm also liking this hair more now by time :) My hair is pretty straight, and I'm mostly lazy and curl it with an iron or hot rolls, although I know my hair'd appreciate the pin curls...

you're beginning to look more and more like veronica lake with this hair. this is a great outfit and I like your cold weather diagrams. I imagine that the cold weather coats and gear in finland are very high-tech

I love everything about that outfit - it's incredible. Thanks for thevwarm but stylish dressing tips. I do get tired of seeing these girls out in wind rain and snow with so little on. All these red carpet celebs don't help either. Damn it, it is possible to becwrm and look good!

You have amazing hair now! I was living in Finland last year and I totally understand what you say ... I actually had forgotten about style, when it comes to -20° the only thing I wanted to wear was skiing suits! But I have to say that if you have good boots + a warm jacket, you can survive in mini skirt most of the time ^^

Layers truly is the key to cold weather. That's what I've been trying to educate here when the lovely Brits are moaning how cold the winter has been!
You have really managed to make men's t-shirt look like a women's fashion piece. Queen of the details :)
