A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF

2011. So, last year is over and this one has begun. Time goes by so fast.
But on the other hand, some things that happened only a short while ago feel like it could have been years since. The days get this strange blue, thin layer of nostalgia over them, and happenings are transferred to this space where time has no meaning - last month, last year, ten years ago. Sometimes it feels like forever, sometimes like just now, sometimes the amount of time does not matter, except for that it is all something that already was.

Well, I guess those are just called memories. Perhaps you know what I mean.

Blogs form this ever changing media in the sense that what you publish is only directly available for a short time; the faster you post the faster old posts disappear to the archives. And while some old posts are viewed over and over again via different sources others will remain unread.

So I thought I'd have kind of a similar diggin-in-the-archives-competition or shall we say give away to the one I did last year, when I asked you to name your favourite post ever on The Freelancer's Fashion Blog.(Surprisingly many thought the best one was written during December 2009, which of course is great as that would mean I just get better by time...or then just that it's not interesting enough or to much bother scrolling back a bit. Heh:)

But anyway, this time it goes like this:
Name or link to your favorite post from 2010 by leaving me a comment.

Just like last year, when Prefecta won the mirror necklace, you will be able to win a surprise gift, something small and pretty.

The competition will be open for about a week or so and you can of course enter from where-ever in the world you are, but do leave me your email if you don't have a blog or page to link to.
Happy New Year!

I keep coming back to the red Turban done five ways post. I bought vintage pattern off etsy I plan to crochet in light grey, and I will make a pompom, flower, ribbon, and sequined bow or flower in sparkly silver to copy your idea. Thanks!

I would say this one - just found it so fun and inspiring how you translated that poster in one super act - and as you know I'm such a fan of burlesque and the itty bitty tease cabaret

I ♥ this post because it combines lovely things: lights, snail mail (yay! it always makes me happy), your benevolent gesture of sponsoring a child & the your awesome faux bangs, which I wish I could rock but can't, lol. Thanks for the giveaway, may this year bring you lots of joy, love, good health & new adventures! -iliana :)

Godt nyttår, Ulrika!
Picking a favorite post was awfully difficult - Do I pick one filled with beautiful pictures, or one with an inspiring outfit? One that is extremly well written, or one that is helpful in one way or another? I landed on the tiki hairdo tutorial. You haven't done a whole lot of posts like that and I would love to see more in the future! :)
http://freelancersfashion.blogspot.com/2010/05/five-minute-pinupish-tiki-inspired.html

The beginning of THIS post, "The days get this strange blue, thin layer of nostalgia over them", almost made me pick it. It was like a painting made out of words.

I actually went through your old posts to find my favourite ones. But without even going through them I can remember one post that I absolutely adored. It was your "I beat the cake"-post in april about outfit for wedding and hairdo that didn't turn out so well at first. Dress is cute and you look so pretty in it.
My other favourites are "Cars and chicks and cruising" with other Itty Bitties, "By the wall" because you look so stylish and pretty and "When just at home pf. 1" because you can look comfy and chic at the same time.

oh it's so hard to choose but I think the "the cats are settling in-post" is (one of) my favourite posts. It made me laugh so much because I've had cats all my life and recognize the special "catness" in the pictures...

My favourite post was "BERLIN pt.1; IN A RATHER RAINY BERLIN" (http://freelancersfashion.blogspot.com/2010/08/berlin-pt1-in-rather-rainy-berlin.html) as I loved all of the photos you posted and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Berlin (especially Kreutzberg!). I loved the last picture so much that it's actually the screensaver on my work computer!

First of all, I wish you the happiest year ever, full of love, friendship, happiness and of course full of new dresses and shoes !
It's really hard to choose The topic I love the most, but I think my favourite was your Berlin's chronicles. I only been there once but I really loved this city, the artwork in the streets, the shops and how much it's easy to be vegan down there ! The pics are really nice, it's like a day in the life of a travelling pin up. Of course the other posts were great, choosing the best one is as difficult as choosing the worse, there is none !

Best wishes ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Agatha

My favorite is about "the hair project" when you put a cabbage on your head...not because it's funny, but also because you don't take yourself so seriously... and who hasnt' done things like these in the name of beauty? haha

My favorite post from the past year would have to be the first post of yours I ever read. I think I was searching for new hair bits and bobbles for my dance group when I pulled up your "5 Minute Pinup'ish Tiki Inspired Hair Do".
I read the post, and the next, and the next and promptly decided you were possibly the coolest blogger on the web and set up Google Reader so that I wouldn't ever forget to check for updates.
My dance group? Polynesian. I'm the blondest, palest hula girl in tropical paradise of Alberta, Canada. One day I want to be the blondest, palest burlesque dancer in Alberta. Possibly with a hula number.

I am a new reader to your blog, but I absolutely love it! Once I discovered it, I read all of your back posts over a couple of days.

That being said, I think my favourite post from 2010 is this one: http://freelancersfashion.blogspot.com/2010/11/50-degrees-c-ago.html

I love the pictures on it, and living in Canada, I can relate to the temperature swings and the nostalgic feeling for summer in the middle of winter.

Happy New Year, and I look forward to seeing your posts in 2011!

I first must say that my favorite posts are usually the ones including pictures of the kitties (as I'm no longer allowed to have any), the bitties, or your apartment.

For some reason though, I always love every post about food! I can't imagine why since I hardly have the ability to boil water. Perhaps it is that they inspire me. :)

I was pregnant when I read this particular post and it's all that I craved for days.

Viimeisimpänä on jäänyt mieleen aivan ihanan lintukylppärin esittely, joten vastaan että se! Olen tykännyt erityisesti remppa- ja sisustusjutuista asupostaustesi lisäksi.

Just like the first commenter, my favourite is also the 5 ways to wear a turban post. Somewhere I was reading had linked to that particular post, I read it and thought two things; 1) I need a turban, and 2) I need to follow this girl's blog, she's gorgeous, funny and has inspirational style!

I'm a fan of them all, but looking back, this one is really nice. It just looks like an incredibly pleasant day.

Also really like the fridge though, and the midsummer farm sorts of stuff, although that might be from long before.
