Prrrretty! Is it common to wait (well you mentioned it on your blog earlier) to wait a little longer with the name giving? (Like the Scandinavian Royal babies!) Here you have to name the baby within 3 days after birth, otherwise names won't be official. Did the cake taste wel? Did Dag Evert Edison have a nice day?

What a lovely name for a lovely little boy. The cake looks super good and tasty. Did you make it yourself?

Gillian & Miss Maple: it's the Ellen Svinhufvud cake (named after the 3rd first lady of FInland, as she always served this cake), an almond fragilité cake; consisting of layers of almond macaroon and coffe butter cream. Ellen was my grandmother's grandmother so we always have her cake at all celebrations in my family; weddings, funerals (well, not a celebrations but anyway), bigger birthday parties and so on. The real recipe is "secret" and is oh so baked at a bakery (and one bakery only) , it would be very hard to pull of correctly at home onself. Plus this cake was for 50 persons, so not a task for me! I did make other smaller cakes for the party though :)

Katja :usually the christenings or name-giving parties are a bit later, when the child is between 1 and 4 months old. You can of course announce the name to the officials as soon as you want (and you don't have to have a party or so of course), but it is no problem to make it official later. The child gets his social security number as soon as he is born, name or no name.

^have to add that is it of course possible to bake such a cake at home too, and the recipe can be found in books and online. But there is still only one 'real' version of the cake :)
