MINT GREEN, MILKSHAKE PINK AND YELLOW STRIPES

As soon as the sun starts feeling warm during the day and the ice starts melting and dripping it's the urge for pastels and freshness in the wardrobe comes creeping (and also, that I should wash my windows. On the OUTSIDE, last year i went cheap and only did it on the inside. It's because they're three meters long and have to be lifted up, not just opened. FYI that should have been in capitol letters too but it would look too shoutish and ugly so just read it that way OK?). Well, now it's all cloudy and snowy and minus again. But it won't be long until it starts dripping and melting again. So yes, on can sprign it up a bit.

 Normal...

 BOOOM!

This skirt was the best thing I got in a while. Just a basic stretchy pull-on sort of pencil skirt, but in a material thick enough to pass as something of better quality I got it for less than 25 euros at Lindex when my tummy started pouting. Then, strangely enough it disappeared at work! I couldn't find it after one evening shift and had to go home (alright, drive) in plain tights. Not funny, it was cold. You see, a skirt is not the first thing you'd though would disappear from the dressing room in the harbour. A t-shirt perhaps to be mistaken for ones own, but not a tight skirt! As it hadn't been found the next morning either I panicked and got myself a new one on my way to the evening shift, and lucky for me it was on the mid season sale for only ten euros. Not that bad actually. Later one guy found it in his back pack; ha had mistaken it for his turtleneck sweater. So now I have two! I am letting the other one stretch out along with the poor skin on my stomach and saving the other for later. End of story.

LOVELY WOMEN, TIKI DRINKS (AND SOME LOVELY MEN)

In honour of Women's Day I'll post some shots of  some lovely ladies I took last weekend, as, not only did I make it out then to meet friends, I even made it to a bar for a birthday thing! Which is something I haven't done in a long long time. Not that bar hopping is the first thing you think about when you're pregnant (I hope), but I hadn't been out for long even before my condition became "blessed" (as one says in Finnish). During autumn I either worked or had shows almost every weekend, and spent the few ones left over in the countryside.
And as we had kept a burlesque class earlier in the day I was suitably dolled up, so even better the reason to get out for some tikilicious Hawaian (virgin) drinks!

 Birthday hero 1.

 Birthday hero 2.

 Gigi.

 Itty Bitty Tinker Bell.

 Itty Bitty Brion.

Itty Bitty Kitty.
That rhymes.

Sparkly shoes on a mister.

Meow!

Husband.

Another husband (as in somebody elses - Gigi's- not another of mine :D )with a cup of rum.

Mr & Mrs.
You know how much I love tiki drinks! This one was with fresh pineapple mashed with mint, cranberry juice, soda and coconut syrup. Yeeey!

The place is Navy Jerry's.

WE HAVE SOME WINNERS

The Artful Musician print give away is over and the two winners drawn randomly are:
Hertta & Anushka, who will win  print of their choice. Emails coming up!

For the rest of you, remember you can still use the code FREELANCE for 25% off a purchase in the etsy shop :)

CATCHING UP

This week I'm stuck at work all the time (harbour) but last week during the first day that actually felt like spring is coming * I had some time off  and had the chance to catch up with some friends.  Apart from those I do burlesque with, I haven't really have the chance to meet most of my friends since my birthday part in October! (Which might give a hint to how busy things can be around here, and is one reason I seldom comment on other blog anowadays or why some of you have waited for me to reply to your emails from, eh, November on...)

*) uuuh, watch out, soon all northern hemisphere blosg will start their "uuu, tulips, pastels, waiting for spring"-posts...

First I met up with Ina at Espresso Edge which is close to where she works and where we tend to meet up quite often. It was one of the first, if not the first, "latte cafées" in Helsinki, before the chain coffe shops started popping up. I remember going there after school in the nineties and hanging out for hours around one cup of coffee, like annoying teenagers use to do (the café owners dream..).

They have this great soup lunch and relaly good organic carrot cake. Mmmmmm, carrot cake...

Then I went over to my old hoods in Kallio to visit Irja in her vintage store Hoochie Mama Jane. I used to pop over for coffee and what-nots all the time before when I lived ajust around the corner...

The tiny store is always packed with lots of nice stuff and rather famous for it's acessories.

One seldom leaves empty handed; Irja always picks something out for you. I got myself a couple of vintage dresses suitable for maternity. Or, the other is an actual sixties maternity dress. Will have to wait for slightly warmer weather yet though.

Then I took the tram to the other side of town.

To visit Senja.

And her little dog!

Senja works for Belle Modeste, making custom corsets. The showroom, Boutique 18,  is shared with a couple of other hand made labels, with clothing, lingerie and acessories. Senja is making me a maternity dress inspired by one I found on etsy but missed out on buying. It's good to know seamtresses!

Wof!

Later I met up with my friend Katja, who I really hadn't seen for ages, for some Mexican food.

Katja is camera shy but here's the place instead; Pueblo.

(Check the links if you will be in town and are interested in the places.)
