CATCHING UP

This week I'm stuck at work all the time (harbour) but last week during the first day that actually felt like spring is coming * I had some time off  and had the chance to catch up with some friends.  Apart from those I do burlesque with, I haven't really have the chance to meet most of my friends since my birthday part in October! (Which might give a hint to how busy things can be around here, and is one reason I seldom comment on other blog anowadays or why some of you have waited for me to reply to your emails from, eh, November on...)

*) uuuh, watch out, soon all northern hemisphere blosg will start their "uuu, tulips, pastels, waiting for spring"-posts...

First I met up with Ina at Espresso Edge which is close to where she works and where we tend to meet up quite often. It was one of the first, if not the first, "latte cafées" in Helsinki, before the chain coffe shops started popping up. I remember going there after school in the nineties and hanging out for hours around one cup of coffee, like annoying teenagers use to do (the café owners dream..).

They have this great soup lunch and relaly good organic carrot cake. Mmmmmm, carrot cake...

Then I went over to my old hoods in Kallio to visit Irja in her vintage store Hoochie Mama Jane. I used to pop over for coffee and what-nots all the time before when I lived ajust around the corner...

The tiny store is always packed with lots of nice stuff and rather famous for it's acessories.

One seldom leaves empty handed; Irja always picks something out for you. I got myself a couple of vintage dresses suitable for maternity. Or, the other is an actual sixties maternity dress. Will have to wait for slightly warmer weather yet though.

Then I took the tram to the other side of town.

To visit Senja.

And her little dog!

Senja works for Belle Modeste, making custom corsets. The showroom, Boutique 18,  is shared with a couple of other hand made labels, with clothing, lingerie and acessories. Senja is making me a maternity dress inspired by one I found on etsy but missed out on buying. It's good to know seamtresses!

Wof!

Later I met up with my friend Katja, who I really hadn't seen for ages, for some Mexican food.

Katja is camera shy but here's the place instead; Pueblo.

(Check the links if you will be in town and are interested in the places.)

Oh I miss catching up with old friends too! It looks like your friends work in some great places (and it's always handy to have friends who work in great places!). I must say I miss Ina's blog, I always enjoyed her posts about the crazy weather and delicious food!
